Don "Nick" Clifford

    Don Clifford worked on Mount Rushmore from 1938 through 1940. He was also a pitcher for the Mount Rushmore baseball team. The last surviving Mount Rushmore worker, Clifford stayed close to the monument until his death in 2019. 

    In the Mount Rushmore gift shop was a 2004 book entitled Mount Rushmore Q&A, which featured him answering questions about the monument. I got an autographed copy for $12.
